Biography 

 

Originally from Vancouver, Canada, Courtney Zelter started dancing at the age of eleven. She trained intensively at various pre-professional competitive studios in ballet, pointe, lyrical, contemporary, modern, jazz, jazz funk, and musical theatre. In 2013, Courtney began her collegiate studies at Chapman University, where she will graduate with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance as well as a minor in Sociology. In her four years at Chapman University, Courtney trained under elite dance faculty such as, Alicia Guy, Will Johnston, Leann Alduenda, Larry Rosenberg, Charles Maple, Holly Johnston, Liz Maxwell, Jenny Backhaus, and Liz Curtis. During the spring semester of her sophomore year at Chapman, Courtney spent a semester abroad training in ballet, modern, and jazz at the University of Reohampton in London, England. Her semester abroad tremendously inspired her passion for choreography, and upon her return, had the opportunity to choreography a piece entitled, “My Name Is” in Chapman University’s annual concert “Works in Progress”. Additionally, she had the opportunity to choreograph the Chapman Students Organization Production of “Hair: The Musical”. Courtney has also performed in numerous Chapman University dance concerts, including, but not limited to, “Chapman Celebrates”, “American Celebration”, and most recently in 2016 as a soloist in the “Fall Dance Concert”, with choreography by Sean Greene. She is currently represented by The Movement Talent Agency, and plans to continue working with them following graduation in the spring of 2017. Courtney will be moving to Los Angeles where she will continue to work towards her goals of working as a professional dancer.
